I'm back!

This post has been a long time coming, but I finally was able to squeeze in some time to make it happen. With Lady GaGa's latest album comes enough club mixes from her discography to complete a CD-length mixset, and here is my attempt. I had a lot of fun putting this one together, so I hope you'll enjoy it! She's currently one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, and for good reason: Unique presentation, amazing costumes, kickass choreography, and not to mention the fact that this girl has ONE HELL OF A FANTASTIC SINGING VOICE, one which she is not shy about singing live with. I love a pop star who doesn't lip-synch. Kudos to you, Miss GaGa.

Happy October everyone! Just another set of random stuff... I needed something with a newer groove and different songs to work out to - so here it is (though I re-used a track from the previous post cos I'm not quite sick of it yet).

I'm in love with David Guetta's "Nothing But The Beat" album, so a few of his latest collaborations ("Titanum" ft Sia, "Sweat" with Snoop Dogg, and "Sunshine" with Avicii) are included here as well.

I recently attended a Diana Ross concert in Denver where I was pulled up on stage to dance with Miss Ross herself. The song at the moment? "Upside Down," and in homage to that moment I've included a mix here by Almighty. (See me with Miss Ross at the bottom of this post!)

The version of Jennifer Lopez's "Let's Get Loud" included here is an extended mix made by yours truly. I've always thought the song lent itself to club play quite nicely, but clocking in at only four minutes it's just too short! I took it upon myself to create an extended mix, complete with beats at the beginning and ending to mix in and out, as well as little tweaks throughout the song to make it longer.

Hello everyone! Sorry for the long absence yet again! My computer died for good finally, and it took me a while to replace it. Now that that's taken care of, bring on the music!!!

With a new computer comes newer mixing software, and I'm still learning the ropes on it so I hope the transisions are as flawless as you've come to expect from my work. Perfection is learned, and I'm kind of learning all over again! Bear with me!!! :)

This is more random tracks from my collection, mostly new. There are specifically two older songs that I put in just to fill the gaps (Jewel's "Only One Too" is a few years old and I've been trying to use it in one of these sets for a while but I keep forgetting about it; I heard Timbaland's "If We Ever Meet Again" while clubbing a few weeks ago and was reminded how much I like it), but otherwise everything is new to my collection, at least within a few weeks or so... new since my last post of this blog. Pride 2011 [Link fixed]

This particular post is a little late this year, I usually try and make the Pride mixset available on the first of June, but this year I was specifically waiting for a certain track to become available (in this case, Kylie's Put Your Hands Up) before completing and posting the set.

As you can see, Pride season is once again upon us. As I do every year, I wanted to make a set of uplifting dance tracks to liven our spirits in the Pride season, to remind us to be who we are and that there is nothing shameful about it.

My song selection this time around isn't completely random as you can probably see. I included Kylie Minogue's Better Than Today as a nod towards Dan Savage's "It Gets Better" campaign (itgetsbetter.org), Katy Perry's Firework is a reminder to never sell yourself short and be all you can be, Pink's Raise Your Glass is to embrace all that you are (and even all that you are not), Lady GaGa's Born This Way was destined to be a Pride anthem from the beginning and will clearly be so for years to come. Cascada's San Francisco is naturally, a nod to the great California city where Harvey Milk organized the first national Gay Pride rally, telling the world we were here to stay.

Of course, there are fantastic filler songs (Put Your Hands Up, Party All Night, Last Friday Night, Move Your Body, and Touch to name a few) that are just there to be a soundtrack to your Pride month, all the while reminding you to not take everything in life too seriously and just dance and have a good time.

After a long absence (sorry), I'm back. I did put another mixset together about a week ago with the intent of posting it here, but the end result was less than satisfactory so I decided not to post it. This mixset is more like a re-hash of my previous (failed) attempt, containing several of the same songs. This time, the set seemed to flow much better than it did before, and I was happy with how this turned out.

After a long wait, Katy Perry's "Firework" remixes have finally been released and to my surprise, I found Fred Falke's mix to completely knock my socks off...surprising since he's never really impressed me before.

White-label DJ Brian Cua has made some great mixes in the past, one of which I used in the "Fire Ball Part 2" post earlier in this blog. This time I included his fantastic mix of "Teenage Dream" from the hit US television show Glee. I love the original version of the song by Katy Perry; the Glee version raised the bar, adding to the fact that it was performed by a male acapella group on the show. The fact that it was an acapella arrangement made it a simple candidate for remixing.

Closing this set is a newly produced remix by Almighty of "Suspicious Minds" by the King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis Presley. Almighty originally produced a cover version of this song a while back, and now a version with Elvis' original vocals is making the rounds on the internet. Almighty did a great job here, considering the original Elvis acapellas are not available. -They rarely are on old recordings as many songs were recorded in a single take without the technology of multi-track recording.

Hi folks! Here's another mixset consisting of old and new tracks. Kylie Minogue recently performed a fantastic unplugged acoustic set on BBC Radio One's Live Lounge (download her live set here) where she did a cover of the song "Wonderful Life" by Hurt. I had been familiar with the song for a while, though frankly it had never really done much for me. After Kylie did her beautiful orchestral version of it my opinion of it changed and I decided to include the Freemasons mix of Hurt's version. Additionally, speaking of Kylie, I added the Wayne G & Porl Young mix of "All The Lovers" to this set as well - glad to have a new mix of "All The Lovers" since I'm starting to get burned out on "Get Outta My Way." Hope you enjoy!

Greetings everyone, sorry for the long absence but I've been busy lately! Well, that and I was also waiting for mixes of Kylie's latest single "Get Outta My Way" to surface. After a long, impatient wait, they finally did.

This mixset contains a lot of Katy Perry for some reason (three tracks worth, lol), including a track from her forthcoming album Teenage Dream called Firework. I have spoken to Liam Keegan about possibly remixing this song as I have loved his remixes of Katy's California Gurls and Teenage Dream, the latter of which is also included in the mixset. Firework is a fantastic track that would be an amazing club song if it were to get the remix treatment. Fingers crossed it does! Our third new Katy Perry track is a delightfully dirty double ententre called Peacock. While the album version is a fun romp through the taboo, the remix included here gives it a darker, sexier sound... I can already hear it in the local clubs.

It's that time of year again. Here are some fabulous dance tracks to liven up your Pride season. I wanted to bring you some new club anthems from the past year and some old favorites to play at full blast with the windows rolled down, or for your summer parties, or jamming at the gym!

This mixset opens with RuPaul's tribute to Harvey Milk, Let's Turn The Night. Without Harvey Milk there wouldn't be Pride celebrations all over the world, so I thought it would appropriate as an opener.

I closed this mixset with another mix of James Roy's Rise Above, which was written after Colorado voters defeated a ballot measure that would have granted domestic partner benefits within the state. Rise Above is a plea for hope and tolerance and I thought it would be a good closer to remind us that we have come so far, but we still have a long way to go.

Hello peeps. I didn't think I'd be back this soon, but a sleepless night found me bored and in the mood to mix. Hope you like this.

In 1999, I dated a guy who I was absolutely bonkers for. He broke my heart and I retaliated with a mix CD I called "The Scary Ex Mix." In those days, I didn't have any means to create mixsets so it was an old fashioned mixtape style compilation. It included several songs that were really angry, jilted lover type songs, some of which are even included here. Given what I've been going through lately, I thought it would be a good idea to revisit the concept. Let me know what you think.

Divas of the Colosseum

I've wanted to do this mixset for a while now. I've had the pleasure of seeing a show by a resident of the Colosseum at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. The performer was Cher, who I've seen live on tour before. Her Vegas show was slightly disappointing after seeing how spectacular she was on tour, but I still enjoyed it quite a lot. This mixset is composed of songs by artists who have held a residency at the Colosseum, specifically Céline Dion, Cher, Bette Midler, and Elton John. I've only been able to acquire a single dance mix of an Elton John song, but I make do with what I've got. Enjoy!

Here's some LeAnn Rimes in a mixset that's been long overdue. I've been meaning to do a LeAnn mixset for several months now and I don't know why I put it off for so long. You may notice that UK producers Almighty have several mixes in this set. It's mostly because I've never heard a bad Almighty mix, and/or they were better than the others anyway.

Interestingly enough, LeAnn requested that Graham Stack model his remix of "Soon" after his own production on Kylie Minogue's "On A Night Like This." I'm sure you'll notice similarites between the two tracks.

Madonna Megamix #3

As you may or may not have figured out by now, Madonna is my diva of choice. Everyone has their favorites, and Madonna is mine. I have a TON of Madonna remixes that I constantly want to include in these mixsets, but then I automatically think "I want to make another all-Madonna set!" I can't get enough of this woman. I have an entire room in my home devoted to the Queen of pop and a sizable collection of her releases and other items (the Mac mini in that room displays Madonna music videos most of the time or when not in use).

Every mix in this set is a promo, white label, or unreleased mix (except for track 11, "Revolver [Paul van Dyk Mix]" which is on the forthcoming "Revolver" maxi single and already available digitally through iTunes in most countries). This was entirely coincidental and unintentional, but I like they way they all came together.

Victor Calderone's unreleased remix of the Music track "Runaway Lover" is really good, but also really long. I wanted to include the track, but for sake of time opted for the also-unreleased radio edit. It ended up fitting better than I had anticipated.

Also in this mixset is an alleged David Guetta remix of the unreleased track "Liquid Love." I say "alleged" because I am doubtful that Guetta had anything to do with the remixing of the track. My personal theory is that someone took the news that Guetta is working with Madonna on her next album (which has been confirmed by Guetta himself) and put a remix together for "Liquid Love." However, I'd call it a mashup more than a remix, as it contains heavy elements from "When Love Takes Over" by David Guetta featuring Kelly Rowland (which you can find in another of my mixsets by clicking here). Official or not, Guetta or not, I like the mix quite a bit. It makes an existing Madonna track have that thumpa-thumpa feel that I can't get enough of. What do you think of the "Guetta" remix of "Liquid Love?"

I wish this could have been longer, but Sarah Brightman doesn't really have a lot of remixes out there, which is unusual considering her expansive body of work. One of my favorite Sarah songs is "How Can Heaven Love Me," which remixes were commissioned for. However, only one of them is really "clubby," and it's not very good. This was originally intended to be a "Cher vs Sophie" mixset, containing hits from both artists including their individual versions of "Take Me Home," Cher's being the original from the 1970s. However, I realized I didn't have enought Cher to make that happen, and I have plenty of Sophie stuff to do a Sophie mixset. I can't believe I didn't do one sooner!

On a side note, while I love Sophie's version of "Take Me Home," I really don't like that she changed the lyrics. Leave the classics alone!!!

ReHash: Kylie Minogue Megamix

Okay...this may appear that I've gotten lazy, but hear me out. One of the first posts of this blog was a Kylie Minogue mixset. I was listening to it the other day and it was annoying the crap out of me. Firstly, the transitions needed to be tightened up. So that's what I did. Secondly, I think the ending of the original mixset ("Celebration") just didn't fit right to me so I wanted to change it. I was originally going to cut the Chris Lake vocal mix of "In My Arms" entirely but left it in for a couple of reasons: (1) I freakin' LOVE that song and I wanted to include it and (2) there is no other remix of "In My Arms" that is even halfway decent. I think Chris Lake made the only [just barely] listenable remix of the song, but I still don't like it so I cropped it WAY down to the length it was in the original mixset. In order to get rid of the dated "Celebration" ending, I added Mark Pichiotti's remix of "All I See" and Steve Anderson's remixes of "Come Into My World" and "Light Years," closing with the latter.

So to sum it up: Transitions are tighter, crummy "Celebration" track is gone, Three different tracks have been put in its place. Additionally, this Kylie mixset includes a single track and a split tracks version download (unlike the first, where only a single track download was available) Hope you enjoy, and PLEASE comment!

This is a mixset of songs with a beats-per-minute rate of 140 or higher, making it great for a cardio workout. It also gives me a chance to use Ford's remix of Rob Thomas' "This Is How a Heart Breaks," the maxi single of which I was finally able to add to my collection after a couple years of searching.

Madonna Megamix #2

Here is the long-awaited Madonna Megamix #2. I was intentionally waiting for her latest single (the Paul Oakenfold-produced Celebration) to become available so I could include it in this mixset. However, when I purchased Oakenfold's Main Mix, I was very disappointed. Some vocals were muffled and hard to hear, other lines of the vocals had been removed altogether. I spent a little time to make my own version of Oakenfold's Main Mix, and that mix is included here.

I've been wanting to redeem myself for the way Give It 2 Me worked into the first Madonna Megamix (the very first post of this blog) so I've included it again, this time using Oakenfold's Extended Remix as opposed to Eddie Amador's House Lovers Mix (which I also like quite a lot).

A friend of mine was recently driving through Denver with his radio turned up and windowns rolled down when Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" came on. He began to sing along at the top of his lungs when he came to a red light. After making sure no one was watching, he continued singing. The song was almost through when he noticed a fireman on the firetruck in front of him, watching him. He immediately went silent, embarrassed. After hearing his story, I made this CD for him, so he had more songs to sing while getting busted by hot firemen!

Madonna: Confessions Megamix

Madonna's Confessions On A Dance Floor (2005) was/is a masterpiece in my honest opinion. I only wish that more songs from the album had had decent mixes produced so this mix could have been longer. I tried to use unofficial mixes for this where there were "good" (by my standards) unofficial mixes available. In the end, only four of the nine tracks I used were official mixes. Also included are the rarer tracks 'History [Demo]' (the final version of which appeared on the Jump single) remixed by Brazil's DJ Pander, and the 'Confessions' special edition bonus track 'Fighting Spirit' as remixed by DJ CLEOpatra, also from Brazil. Just to let everyone know... there haven't been many updates this month because of my performances at Denver's PrideFEST celebration this coming weekend (June 27th and 28th). Rehearsals for my show and working full time Monday through Friday have taken up most of my time and most of my sanity for the moment. I promise I'll get more updates after the excitement of PrideFEST weekend has passed!

Additionally, if you are going to be in the Denver area this weekend I would love your support at the Greek Amphitheatre at Civic Center Park at 3:oopm on Saturday and at 2:30 on Sunday.

I would have made this longer if I had a full length version of the 'Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)' remix, but to my knowledge, it hasn't been released. The edit version itself was only recently released as a free download via AOL. Not to mention that there are only four (five now) GaGa singles with remixes, making this a small project. Cyndi Lauper's latest album 'Bring Ya To The Brink' was a long-awaited dance floor miracle. I've been dying to hear ANYTHING from that album in a club, and haven't been that lucky yet. I created this 'minimix' (so named because of its short running time) to tide me over until the day I hear it in the clubs! I also threw in the fabulous Queer As Folk remix of "Shine" simply because it's so fabulous. I had considered the Tracy Young remix of "Shine," but I felt that the tone of Tracy's remix took away from the overall 'feel' of the project. Look for Tracy's mix on an upcoming megamix in time for the Pride 2009 season!
